BOATS, SHIPS AND HARBOURS
Since time immemorial the Maltese Islands harboured all kinds of ships, boats and ferries. The Luzzu is mainly a fishing vessel very similar to the Llauds of the Balearic Islands. It used to move with wind power in its Lateen rigged sails but nowadays these have given way to inboard motors.
The Dghajsa is a harbour boat which is used as a water taxi and used to be rowed from ship to land or across the harbours. Nowadays the owner has it easy with a small outboard motor...
My paintings in this collection show scenes including such sea craft. More paintings of this kind can be found in the section 'Art Inspired'.
As part of my Canadian influence, I have also painted a set of canoes in a northern setting.
